Route: Tailwinds Bar & Grill - Carden Alvar Provincial Park - Tailwinds Bar & Grill.

From Tailwinds Bar & Grill riders travel east through stunning country side with rolling hills. In the Carden Alvar Provincial Park at the roughly 50km mark, a fully stocked Aid Station with sandwiches, fruits, soft drinks, snacks and water is provided. 

Finish: Tailwinds Bar & Grill

Gear: Road Bike, Mountian Bike, Gravel Bike, Cross Bike, E-Bike, any Bike will suffice. This is a self supported ride, therefore riders must be able to repair a flat tire and also carry repair tools.

June 8th 2023 Kicking Horse Mountian Resort, British Columbia

TheBluMoose Gravel Pre Ride

A group, no drop ride on (2 days prior to the Saturday Ride), June 8th 2023.  
Where: Depart Kicking Horse Mountian Resort Plaza (KHMR) at 9am.
What: A gravel ride to the Mummery Glacier in the Bleaberry Valley and back to KHMR.
Distance: Roughly 140km, but this can be shortened if you drive to the start of the Bleaberry FSR and join the ride there and you will shave off 60km.  Do email us and we will provide the time and location where you can pick up the ride.
Support: At the 75km mark a Picnic will be driven in and we will eat & drink on the banks of the Bleaberry River surrounded by the Rocky Mountains.

Start Time - Routes:

300km: Sign-in @4:30am, 5am Depart.  KHMR Plaza - Parson Aid Station - Brisco Aid Station - Radium Hot Springs Aid Station - Brisco Aid Station - Parson Aid Station - KHMR Plaza.
200km: Sign-in @5:30am, 6am Depart. 
KHMR Plaza - Parson Aid Station - Brisco Aid Station - Parson Aid Station - KHMR Plaza.
100km: Sign-in @8:30am, 9am Depart.  KHMR Plaza - Parson Aid Station - KHMR Plaza.

Aid Stations: TheBluMoose Aid Stations will be made available to all riders for all distances every 50km.  A variety of sandwiches, fruits, snacks, soft drinks and water will be provided.

Riders travel along the West Bench of the Columbia Valley through the Purcell Mountains.  The towns of Nicholson, Parson (Twig & Berry: best burgers), Spillimacheen (Beeland Market: fantastic cappuccinos, sandwiches and cakes), Brisco (Brisco General Store) and Radium Hot Springs are easily accessible from the route where riders can independently from the Aid Stations purchase food and drink items.  Furthermore, these small villages / towns are adjacent to Highway 95 where friends and supporters can rendezvous with and or collect riders.

IMPORTANT:  PRIOR TO THE RIDE - DOWNLOAD THE TRAILFORKS APP (IT IS FREE) TO YOUR CELL PHONE.  NEXT DOWNLOAD FROM ABOVE THE TRAILFORKS DISTANCE YOU ARE DOING AND IMPORT THE FILE INTO THE APP.  IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOU WILL GET LOST!

Equipment: Mountian Bike, Gravel Bike, Cross Bike, Fatbike, E-Bike.  Most riders in the past used Gravel or Cross Bikes with 700*35 & 38 wheel / tire combinations.  This is a self supported ride, therefore riders must be able to repair a flat tire and carry repair tools. We highly recommend riders carry bear spray and a bear spray holder which will allow for your bear spray to be carried in a standard water bottle holder.  Bear Spray and Holders can be purchased in the town of Golden at Derailed SportsRona Home & Garden and ACE Hardware and at KHMR at Selkirk Sports.
